Hi! Just wanted to pop on here to let everyone know that my husband and I are out traveling for an extended period of time. We sold our house in Sand Springs and decided to take some time to go on some new adventures to see some things before we settle in again.
Our first stop was Durango, CO. It was the first time I had ever been there and my husband had been there with his family when he was young. The landscape is beautiful, especially driving north towards Silverton. We wanted to travel more of the Million Dollar Highway, but had a little engine light problem and was uncertain about traveling that road with little to no cell service, etc. out there.
Anyone who is thinking about visiting Durango, I highly recommend taking the train from Durango to Silverton. The scenery is spectacular any time of year as you follow the Animas River north. It was certainly an experience I will never forget. Here are a few pictures from our train ride. I highly recommend the Knight Sky car since it has glass sides and top for 360 degree views! The hot chocolate was also pretty spectacular!
Once we arrive in Silverton, CO it was like a step back in time. That is the only way I can describe it. There is only one paved road through the middle of town and the rest are dirt. The train pulls into the middle of town.
